Theyre in Everything
The ensemble of the Ubom! Theatre Company will be doing a total of 29 performances over the Festival for their three productions, Through Blue, The Dogs Must be Crazy and Eco Wolf and the Three Pigs. This is because all three of their Festival proposals were accepted.
It’s an honour to be performing all of their pieces, said Ubom! member Zenzelispesihle “Sparky” Xulu, so the ensemble was not willing to complain about a heavy workload.

HOSS (Review)
Before the play had even started, the sheer volume of the crowd spoke for the performance itself. Special mention goes to Elisha Mudly for her breath taking performance as ‘death’s horse’ and to Sparky Xulu for his flawless performance of the story’s ‘bad guy’.

HOSS: haunting and hilarious
If you’re as familiar with Ubom!’s work as I am, from the past couple of years, you’ll agree that HOSS, directed by Rob Murray, is delivering something fresh with the company’s new team. A far more youthful cast than Ubom! has had in a while, it is commendable to witness how they hold their own against the indefatigable Andrew Buckland.Sparky Xulu, who worked with Ubom! last year, shines as the urbanised young man raised in a rural Eastern Cape village.

This year,STDiesel and The Most Amazing Other Show entertained the new students while also highlighting some issues Rhodes students are likely to encounter during their time at the University.
“We fused our own experiences with the old stories from 5 or 6 years ago to update and amend them in terms of terminology and new information,” Xulu said. This was particularly significant given that STDiesel places a lot of emphasis on HIV/Aids
